The heroine works in a scuzzy brothel and gets transferred to a high class brothel when the scuzzy one gets burnt down. Her circumstances are pretty awful. She’s a damaged creature. Typical guilty pleasure/wish fulfillment type story. But we all enjoy one of those from time to time…or at least I do.

I’m not totally sure why all of the heroines in these novels all look like the hero’s dead lover but I’ll just go with it. Seriously, it seems to be a theme…and kind of a creepy theme at that. Just ignore the creepy theme and enjoy the story.

Like most other of the historic spanking/BDSM novels, there is a huge social class thing going on in this book. “She is a lady, she didn’t belong there, she should not be mingling with the low class people”…never mind that she is now as low class as they despite being raised in an upper class family.

Nevertheless, it was a pretty good book.
