I wanted to learn Arabic for when travelling to native Arabic speaking countries. This book provides a simple accessible way to go about achieving this, this won’t make you an expert in the language it’s simply there as a phrasebook guide to help you communicate. The book is split into the following colour coded sections:

* The essentials
* transport
* in the home
* at the shops
* day to day
* leisure
* sport
* health
* planet earth
* celebrations & festivals

Which should cover most of the bases when it comes to enquiring.
The format is generally: picture, english, Arabic, phonetic Arabic, and if you are not confident enough to attempt the phrase there is always the picture you can show. Each section is again split into smaller bitesze subsections to cover many different situations and start with a basic set of common phrases, as well as vocabulary. The index is thoughtfully split into english and Arabic for ease. The book measures 15 cm x 10.5 cm x 1.5 cm so you can easily put this into a pocket, bag to keep it with you. Overall well structured, effective way of picking up the language, easy to pick up and read, small enough to carry with you, well priced.
